emmaline/lizzie/lucy/princess-hissy-fit

Also known as, She Who Will Not Be Named or She Who Will Answer to Nobody. Incredibly, even more than Minou, she loves chasing and pouncing on string, twisting and throwing her lithe little body around to grab at it with wild abandon. Her jump-and-twist moves remind me of double salchows in figure skating. She plays hard and long yet when she stops, she hardly looks out of breath. Here she is after a leap-on-the-bed-and-off-again session, composed and ready for her close-up.

Emmaline and Minou are getting along better each day somewhat okay. Emmaline defers to Minou in matters of string and food. If he’s playing, she’ll sit on the sidelines waiting for the string to come her way. If he’s eating, she’ll come up tentatively until it’s clear he won’t brush her off. Sometimes they seem to be fine hanging out together.

“C’mon, I’ll show you where the really cool stuff is.”
And sometimes Minou is too aggressive towards her (chasing, cornering, biting). So I have to separate them.
What I love the best about Emmaline is that she is affectionate like Nikki was. When she’s not bouncing off the walls (literally) or jumping on dressers or chasing her tail, she’s perfectly happy to sit near me, leaning into my hand for some loving. And because she’s the same breed as Nikki, I see many familiar nuances: the way she sighs, the rumbling of her purrs, the crossing of front paws when she’s sitting quietly, the tolerance for lots of hugs, and even putting up with baths and blow-dry.

She certainly has the Princess look in that second photo, which is absolutely wonderful!
I think she’s losing her “hissy fit” title, Flighty, but she’s still a Princess
Thanks for the heads’ up on those bad links. There’s something weird going on with WordPress’ feature, but hopefully they’re fixed now.
i wish i had some advice for the sibrivalry, anne…i hope time fixes it. my jezebel hisses at all of the other cats, and time hasn’t fixed that, but she had been feral before we adopted her.
fingers crossed for those beauties of yours.
Not totally composed though - she still has that look of “I am kitty and I may freak out at any minute!” on her face.
Anne, these kitty photos have me wanting one of my own!
They are so beautiful and it is nice they get along some of the time. Emmaline reminds me of Eloise in her personality, and Minou is like Howard. Sometimes when we are petting him, he gets aggressive and grabs our hand in claws and bites. I love kitties.
Hello sweetie! I was just about to go to bed when I remembered that in my haste to feed my baby boy I left you off my hellos! I’m so sorry, my brain is spectacularly rubbish from lack of sleep, I’m still not entirely sure how I managed to miss my ‘hello’ to you since you were one of the first wordpress blogs to go on my favourites!! :o) Anyway, before my eyes close for the night I just wanted to say hi and give you a big hug! *BIG HUG* Speak soon honeypie Xx
I’ve found that the orneriest cats quite often turn out to be the most affectionate. They don’t all have that “stately” princess look, though.
Emmy looks lessy hissy in these photos…Such wonderful photos of late of her and Minou (happy belated birthday hugs to him!). And a cat that tolerates wash & blow dry–that is incredible! Glad things are going better, and that the plumbing is all sorted out! Happy Days with your fur-babies and flowers ((BIG HUGS))
They are so beautiful! I’d adopt a cat in a second if I knew it wouldn’t eat Munch, my hamster
I love the caption on your third photo - so cute

Hey! It’s like a 20six reunion here! *waves to Pandy, Diva, and Flighty* PlaneJane and Mylozmom commented on the other post. I’m looking forward to visiting you guys soon!

MM, my poor Minou is wigging out. I think I need to keep him separated and slowly reintergrate. May have been too hasty. As you guessed, he has great potential for affection.
.
Thanks, Tracy. Turkish Vans supposedly like water. I’ve found that they tolerate it better than most cats, but I’ve never caught mine pining for a bath….
.
Dawn, I was just reading that the line between happy-to-be-petted and that’s-enough-now can be pretty fine.
Those are wonderful photographs. The cats are adorable.
What a beautiful pair of kitties! I think they are both so pretty. They’ll get used to each other one of these days. If I had them here in my climate, they’d be friendly just so they could cuddle together…LOL
I absolutely love that second shot! Pretty kitties!
They are so beautiful. And I’m so happy that Emmaline reminds you of Nikki a bit.
