thursday love

Em and Wanda
Emmaline loves Wanda (the fish)

Happiness Today:

  • Rain! Fat sloppy drops splattered on my car as I drove to work this morning. As traffic slowed and my eyes wandered to the San Gabriel Mountains, I could see one end of a glimmering rainbow.
  • Calm. We’re carefully choreographing the cats’ time in the house so that they don’t come into contact at all. Minou is mellowing and seems a lot less agitated.
  • Another birthday breakfast! (again, not mine) Chilaquiles, nachos, spaghetti, pastries, fruit, pecan bars, chorizo scrambled eggs, and tamales.
  • I completed some not-so-fun-projects at work yesterday and will get to do more product photography today (and I get my “studio” back!). Yay!
  • Sweet. My roomie picked up a mattress pad for me yesterday and we set it up last night. Great relief to wake up without a backache.
  • I’m joining Shutter Sisters‘ Thurday Love.
  • Dazzling Dawn gave me a Creative Blog Award - you are so sweet, my friend.

    1. It’s always nice to read a happy entry which includes a photo like that. The award is deserved, well done!

    2. You really do have pretty kitties! And you take such nice shots of them! Love it! You asked about noise in Canon vs Nikon. Not sure I know exactly what you mean but I have noticed the higher end Canon “clunk” like old film cameras instead of whirring, if that makes sense. :)

    3. As soon as I clicked post it dawned on me you were not talking actual noise but noise in the photo. Duh, my duh moment of the day. :) I can’t answer yet for the photo noise as we haven’t tested it out yet, we’ve only had the 5D and 40D about a week. I’ll let you know when I know. Although I have seen some photos shot with the 5D at 3200 ISO, Wedding shots, no flash and in RAW and they look great. You can edit the noise on the computer to pretty much nil.

    4. Thanks, Lisa. I’m not currently shooting RAW because my hard drive would fill up in a week (that happens when you have new cats!). For indoor shots with these little guys, I have to shoot at 1600 (the XTi doesn’t go to 3200) and get a good bit of noise (I’m shooting on medium).

Hey Flighty. Is the sunshine holding out in your neck of the woods? Or have the rains returned?

    5. Fingers crossed it’s been quite nice, and due to stay that way for a few days. If it’s dried out enough I may even get to do a bit on the plot.

    6. Yeah to happiness…I like the mattress pad thingy the best…nothing like great cozy sleep!

    7. Emmaline’s green eyes are just hypnotic! So beautiful.

Shutter Sisters…sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out.

    8. What an awesome photo. I like the look in her eyes, you were able to capture.

Nothing like a good night sleep. We got one and it sure is nice.

      Congrats on you award.

    9. I could just eat one of those paws for dessert! She is so cute.
Glad you got the mattress thing worked out - there is nothing worse than a bad night’s sleep because of mattress problems.

    10. Hi, so glad you had a good day…we all need these every so often. And that your back is feeling better. I do think a good mattress is really important. Thats a gorgeous photo of your cat too!

    11. Thanks, Margaret and Noreen. Back is feeling much better!
      .
Fiwa, funny how one’s bed works just fine and then suddenly, one’s back doesn’t like it.
      .
Dawn, thanks. She’s hard to catch, that fast Emmaline.
      .
Ginni, she has rather dramatic coloring - black black fur and eye “liner” with those intense green eyes.

Nice to see you back posting, Julie :-)

I think we’ve got your rain for the weekend, Flighty. We need it so and I appreciate your sharing some of yours!

    12. The birthday breakfast sounded delicious. I wish I had been there! I’m glad to hear that Minou is mellowing and that the mattress pad is working out. Lucky you seeing a rainbow …

    13. A happy day! Congrats on your award. You deserve it. Hug those kitties!
