downs and ups

Ooops. Minou caught. It’s… um… the dust. That’s right, I’m dusting!
Except for the fact that Emmaline saw Minou on top of the hutch and she learns all kinds of bad habits from him, this is my happiness today list:
- The cats really are getting along better. They still take turns aggravating each other, but they’re learning to co-exist. That blue chair in the photo above is a highly coveted spot. Even though they could both fit in it, one will usually get in it and bat the other one away.
- Despite my efforts to keep them separate while Minou had a cold, Emmaline has caught it — but the happy part is that she’s napping a lot
- We got more rain this weekend (yay!) after a mostly temperate day in which I managed to finish pruning the roses out front.
- I made carnitas for the first time and it turned out fabulously - ready to do it again!
- Though I’ve had no interest in leaving my current job, a conversation with a recruiter recently made me feel good that, should I be forced to go, there may well be a job in my area. Plus, it’s a bit of a morale booster when your CV is sought after.
- And then, Tracy of Pink Purl who has been showered with cyber-hugs in the form of awards, passed on this award to me. If you haven’t already “met” the following women in the comments, give them a hello, as they are Wonderful Women of the Web! Tracy whose crafty creativity ranges from cards to decorations, Ginni who shares my love for roses (except I think hers might be called an obsession), Willow whose photos and narrative take me on historical trips in my own State (how little I know it!), Yolanda whose Bliss Team make my heart sing, and Olivia who is full of adventure and fun and informative - even when she has not been feeling well (hugs, my friend).

Minou looks like a deer caught in the lights–LOL! Such a lovely list of things to be happy for this day. You are so welcome for the award–a joy to share it with you! My week would not be the same without visiting you and the kitties :o) Your home looks very cozy and tasteful. Thanks for that recipe link–great blog! I must stop and met your friends here. I recently met Willow–her photos and life inspire. Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))
I love hearing about the kitties! This is such a cute pic - I can just imagine her saying ‘damn, how did she catch me?’. Lol.. Animals/pets are so lovely - I’ve had so many hamsters but each one has a significantly different personality/character. Your cats have v colourful ones too
xxxxx
Tracy, I’m always pilfering recipes from Elise. Her instructions are clear and the results have never failed me yet! Thanks again and hope your crafting goes well this week.
.
Pandy, Minou and Emmaline are both very inventive, but together, they wreak havoc beyond my imagination! I want to hear more about your hamsters.
Sounds like a good day, congrats on the award, I really must have a go at making carnitas my kids love Mexican.
Well, congratulations for your cv been looked for!
I had a look at the recipe. Just reading the first paragraph made me smell the meat and feel hungry!
Minou is simply beautiful.
Nice entry and photo, I like the ‘Who me!’ expression.
As to what’s making me happy today there’s reading this entry, and reading a good book. xx
Thanks, Flighty. That is exactly his expression. How can I get mad at that boy? What book is it these days?
.
Thanks, Vero. I think you will like the recipe. You can control the spiciness of the end product by the kind of green salsa you use. I had a pretty hot one and the sauce was spicy, but the meat was just perfect.
.
Carolyn, do try it. I like the recipe because I can control the fat content better (cut into the meat to remove extra fat).
I take it that he’s swishing his tail as well like a feather duster!
I’ll be doing an entry on the book as soon as I’ve finished reading it.
I think I’ll add your insight to Minou’s photo!
The carnitas look delicious! I noticed cilantro in the recipe, too, which I just love. I’m going to use a full cup.
Minou looks adorable. How can you not love an “innocent” face like that.
Marilyn
Oooooo…I’m so excited!! Thanks a million Anne!! I’ll add it to my blog when I get home from work this afternoon!!
Minou looks like a regal kitty cat surveying his domain!! What a great photo!!! You should do this for a cat mag. You (and your kitty-kids) are wonderful.
Love and bughugs!
Marilyn, I misread the recipe and put the cilantro right in with the sauce, cooking it for 3+ hours. But it turned out really really good. And Minou? He’s an expert at “innocent”
.
Ginni, that the house is turning into a cat domain is only too obvious! Drive safely
Aw, Anne, thanks for reminding me of what I can be when I’m feeling good! xoxo
I’m glad you were nominated as you more than deserve it, you bring so many of us a regular dose of joy.
I just looked at the recipe for carnitas and I swear to god my mouth filled up and I nearly actually drooled!!!! They look LUSH!!!! Plus Minou looks such a cheeky rascal you would never be able to be annoyed at such a pretty face! She must get away with murder! LOL ;o) Hope both are feeling super soon xxx
Thanks for your reply on my blogpost! Don’t I remember you from GW? I saw Ginni’s mention of GW on your comments from yesterday - wow, it’s been ages since I’ve really hung out there much but I think I remember your name - what was your GW name?
And…your comments to me were very sweet. If you think of the name of that spiritual gift inventory you took, I’d love to know.
XOXO!
Oh, Anne, thank you so much! I’m really pleased that you enjoy reading my blog. That’s one thing that makes me happy today! Your impish photo of Minou made me smile–that swishy tail says so much. And the news that my grandson will be here soon soon soon is making me happy! And there’s more: a proposed spring break visit from DD#2! What a happy day!
Thank God for quiet moments, while kitties sleep, and for rain!!!
Cute pic of Minou. I’m happy to read that both kitties are getting along better and better. These things take time (been there, done that) but they’ll get there! I hope Emmaline gets better soon!
That’s a nice long list of happiness! Good for you that your CV is so sought after!
Congrats on receiving this award, it’s well deserved!!!
What makes me happy? Well, this award you gave me for a start.
Anne, My dd’s mil read my post this morning and realized she knows you! Debbie from Visalia. What a small world!
And, it’s always nice to know that your work is good and your abilities are desirable in the workplace.
Willow, that is amazing! I know her as DebbieCA and may even have seen a photo of the wedding. How funny is that
And I like your happy list very well. So much to look forward to!
.
Thanks, Yolanda. I’ve never had two cats at a time and I wanted them to be like your Merlin and Delia. Maybe one day.
.
Julia, it is a bit harrowing to be chasing cats all of your waking hours so hurray for napping cats!
.
Hello Sis, I will be going through heaps of papers this spring (at least, I’m hoping it will be limited to spring) and will let you know if I come across that inventory.
.
Diva, it’s a good recipe as there’s actually very little hands-on cooking time. Most of it is simmer time and oven time. Hopefully good news for moms!
.
Thanks, Liv, are you past 98.5% yet?
Anne, I always laugh when I see naughty cats in high places. I’m happy to hear they are getting along better!
Congratulations on your award. You deserve it!
Mary, was it you who told me about a certain cat who was found on some curtain rods?!
Congratulations on the award and the people you gave them too. I have visited a few people on your blog roll. Cute photo of ‘dusting’. Funny how cats react to each other. Howard and Minnie still don’t get along well after 4 years.
