iceberg season

It’s the Iceberg Season Open here at My Front Yard. It’s a little earlier this year, thanks to some record temperatures a few weekends ago. And to perfectly accommodate new rose buds, the weather has cooled a bit. You may remember this image from three weeks ago:

Last week, buds start to open:

And now…

  1. Beautiful.

  2. Okay now you are making me seriously jealous, our Icebergs are sitting there in their sadly naked, pruned state.

  3. Wow! What a difference a couple of weeks makes!
    They look wonderful!

  4. The thing surprised me about Icebergs is that they smell so good.

  5. Stunning! I can’t wait for my one, rather lonely, Iceberg to grow and flower. It’s certainly started to wake up at long last. xx

  6. Flighty, your Iceberg will fill out in the coming year or two and will be spectacular :-)
    .
BH, it is surprising, given that it’s not reputed to have scent.
    .
Daffy, spring comes on fast around here ;-) What’s blooming at your place?
    .
Carolyn, which Icebergs do you have and how many? I got my boss to plant the new Burgundy ones (he has a white fence) and he says they’re doing very well.
    .
Thank you, Natalie. I can’t wait to see what you grow when you have your own space. Do chickens like Icebergs?

  7. I know it will! The label for mine says slightly fragrant. I suppose with that many the scent is more apparent. xx

  8. Yes, there’s 11 on this side of the rose hedge and two on the other side of the driveway for a lucky total of 13!

  9. I’ve been anxiously waiting for this picture and your iceberg did not disappoint! What a feast for the eyes!!

  10. GORGEOUS! I love iceberg - that’s really stunning Anne.

  11. As we can see that’s the way to do it if you can. It really is a terrific display! xx

  12. Unbelievable! I have some alfalfa pellets and epsom salts in the trunk of my car ~ going to go and feed my roses, and may even acquire more. You and your roses are so inspiring :)

My peopny is a red one, and I will post some pics once they bloom :)

  13. I think you need some Rabbits to help you control all that Greenery! :)

  14. Oh! Oh! I have spare rabbits? Want me to parcel a couple up for you? ;o)

  15. Those are so pretty. I look forward to things growing around here.

  16. Beautiful!! I have one great big white iceberg and it’s exploding too. I just wish I had more room for a whole row of icebergs like this.
Last year, I started 5 burgandy icebergs. But they are slowly turning white. What the?!

  17. How neat to see them all open now! Simply lovely!
