GTS: spring in Paris

I was fortunate enough to see spring again — in Paris and in the suburban areas where I stayed, first at my uncle’s flat and then at my mom’s friend’s home. Lilac blooms filled the air with soft scents while the yellow-green new growth on trees and shrubs delighted the eye. I hope you’ll enjoy spring in Paris.

Shrubs on the sidewalk in front fo my uncle’s flat

Sweet white flowers peek through the fencing

Blue forget-me-nots wave in the gentle spring breeze

Vibrant tulips surround a monument at Jardin du Luxembourg

Fuzzy pink blooms cover the branches of this tree at the garden behind Notre Dame

Lilac blooms catch my eye in the midst of the mass of chestnut trees

More tulips and bright flowers (stocks? wall flowers?) in a garden at the front of the Palais du Luxembourg, where the French Senate is housed

Pink petals collecting in the streets of Paris

By a common parking lot, an uncommonly sweet sight - spring rain was falling lightly

A damp looking bench along the side of the road as we walked to the train station

More lilacs vying for attention

Delicate pinks on fresh new greens

Carefree dandelions on the banks of the Yerres River behind my uncle’s little community

Have I mentioned all the lilacs that are in bloom?

Blooms at the Pere Lachaise cemetery

Buttercups silhouetted against sunlit leaves

Fresh blooms against blue blue skies above Breuillet

Sparkling little white blooms on a shrub near a man-made lake

Little blue firecrackers peeping through a fence

Even the weeds look picturesque - of course, it helps that it’s someone else’s weeds

  1. How delightful, every picture. I love lilac, it grows so well in the Seattle area. We’re off to my sister’s house in Whittier for a Mother’s Day lunch but first we’re stopping at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I’m hoping to get some good photos and maybe a treasure or two :)
    Have a lovely day…

  2. Thank you for the beautiful sights. I can almost smell the fragrances.
    XOXO

  3. I have never been more interested in seeing Paris… this has been the loveliest tour I have ever seen.

  4. Spring in Paris looks and sounds wonderful! xx

  5. Your photos are beautful. To be in Paris ever is wonderful enought…. but what a treat with the sping blooms

  6. I wish I had been there.
The lilacs look lovely (like my alliteration there?)
Perhaps the wisteria is out by now, too.

London simply does not have as many flowers as Paris, though I saw a nice thing at Aldgate station near my office - someone had put up two small flowerpot hangers on each side of the stairs and then 3 large flowerpots under the announcements board! I wonder if I should try and take a piccie next week ;)

  7. P.S. THe yellow flowers at the bottom are buttercups and an old tradition is to hold one under your chin. If your chin glows yellow, then that means you like butter! Hehe, cute. Probably on a cloudy day, nobody likes butter!

  8. Liv, I love buttercups - and I loved seeing them everywhere in and around Paris! Glad you are seeing bits of flowers around London. By the time you arrive here, it’ll be high summer!
    .
Thanks, Mynda - it was really quite nice (despite a few cloudy rainy days).
    .
Flighty, I took an inordinate amount of flower photos. This is a tiny excerpt!
    .
Natalie, you are very kind. The other kind of Paris photos are finally going up this week.
    .
Sis, do you guys get lilacs in your area? It’s almost too warm here for them.
    .
Ellen, looking forward to seeing what you get. Happy Mother’s Day!

  9. Gorgeous photos, all. Paris in the springtime is as beutiful as the song implies. You are lucky to have experienced it more than once. Happy GTS,
    Aiyana

  10. Now I have “April in Paris” running through my head! Lovely of you to share “printemps” with us. Were the lilac in bloom? (Just kidding)…The white clustered flowers (above the blue flower) look the very same as my mock orange bush. Thanks for the delightful post :)

  11. Those blue forget-me-nots are so sweet, and all of those fallen petals omn the ground and bench, are a lovely sight! A beautiful photos!!!

  12. Such lovely plant spotting around Paris. Lilac has an amazing scent, no wonder they bottle it! The blue firecrackers are centaurea montana, remember my garden blog competition, these were one of the mystery plants. x

  13. I wondered where in France you were going and now i know. Great pics my dear, I really enjoyed them I have been in Paris in spring before so this was trip down memory lane for me.
