love thursday: petals

So much in the garden had come and gone during the ten days I was away. And though she was neck deep in difficult school projects, roomie managed to take down the waves of dried up blooms. Seventy-plus roses just reaching the prime of their rose-lives make a lot of petals. The ground was carpeted in wrinkled tans and pale pinks. Just a few of the roses were still blooming when I got home. I was out in the garden giving them some extra water with the impending heat wave when I accidently sprayed a stream of water at Parade, my climbing rose. This is the shower of pink petals that came down.
